Textiles minister Sankara rao today disclosed after a meeting with Governor ESL Narasimhan in Hyderabad that the Centre is likely to announce a package for providing constitutional safeguards for Telangana area for a minimum period of 15 months. “An announcement is likely on constitutional safeguards to Telangana for a period of fifteen months and the announcement on separate state of Telangana will come only after that,” he told journalists after coming out a meeting with Governor.
Refusing to elaborate more on the issue, the minister said that separate state of Telangana is bound to come and asked people not to resort to suicides for the sake of Telangana.
Calls Roja iron leg
Sankara rao described former TDP leader and actress Roja as an ‘iron leg’ and said he would not respond to criticism leveled by such people.
Reacting to criticism of Roja against him for writing letters to the High Court on investments made in Sakshi daily and Sakshi TV channel by the former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan reddy and his companies, Sankara rao said that Roja was known to all as an iron leg and did not want to respond to her. “I cannot respond to criticism made by people known as iron legs,” he commented.
It may be mentioned that High Court issued notices to Jagan and several others based on the letters written by Sankara rao.
Sankara rao said that some people are pressing him to withdraw the cases against Jagan and said there is no question of going back.
