Even as the YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan reddy was busy with his election campaign, one Mr Mahabub Basha, a resident of Kadapa, today filed nomination in the by-election to the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat saying that he was contesting as YSR party candidate. “I am the owner of the YSR congress Party and I am contesting on behalf of my party,” he said after filing the nomination.
Basha recently caused ripples in Jagan camp when he said that YSR congress party belonged to him and a court case was pending on the issue.
Basha told a media conference this afternoon in Kadapa after filing his nomination that he had applied for registration of YSR Congress in 2009 but Siva kumar of Nalgonda district claimed it as his parry. “Then I filed a petition in the High Court and the judgment is yet to come on my petition,” he said.
Even before the court decision came, Siva kumar gave this YSR Congress party to Jagan and the Central Election Commission also gave its approval to the handing over of the party to Jagan, he said. “How can Siva kumar transfer the party to Jagan and how can the election commission accept it when my petition was pending in the court?” Basha asked.
“For this reason only I filed my nomination and I am the YSR Congress party candidate,” he declared assertively. “No one has prompted me to do this. Congress party or TDP has nothing to with this and it is my own decision,” Basha said adding that he would work for ending corruption in public life.
“I want to tell you one thing that minorities are not with Jagan. Only one person who knows half Telugu and half Urdu is with Jagan and his name is Rehman,” he said taking a dig at Jagan.
