Revanth Reddy puts GO 111 Repeal on Hold:- Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reportedly decided to postpone the repeal of the controversial GO 111, which aimed to prevent pollution within a 10-km radius of Osmansagar and Himayatsagar by limiting growth. Last year, the K. Chandrasekhar Rao-led government repealed the GO, but did not implement its replacement, Government Order 63, which discussed guidelines for changing land use from conservation to residential, commercial, or multipurpose purposes.

During a recent review meeting, the Chief Minister questioned the justification for constructing the Metro Rail corridor between Raidurg and the Shamshabad airport along the Outer Ring Road, stating that it would be a wasteful expense due to the significant portion of the area covered by GO 111, which restricts growth. This sentiment was reiterated during an informal conversation with the media on Thursday. It appears that Chandrasekhar Rao hastily announced GO 111 prior to the elections in an attempt to portray a positive image of real estate in Hyderabad and gain support from voters in villages affected by the order.

Despite assurances from the BRS government to prevent lake pollution and create a master plan prior to allowing any activity, environmentalists remain skeptical. A senior official from the municipal administration and urban development department stated that no permissions would be granted until guidelines and zonal planning are established, as promised to the High Court. However, the previous government approved certain applications for land use change in Vattinagulapalli, based on the High Court's decision to release specific survey numbers from the restricted zone. It is worth noting that the restricted development zone was referenced in the GO 111, without specifying any survey numbers.
