AP Government To Privatize Wine Shops Soon:- The government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to privatize the wine shops which are run by the government after YSRCP took charge. Hundreds of local brands are introduced after the leaders of YSRCP gained the licenses for the distilleries in the state. AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy met the officials' couple of days ago during which the decision was taken. It is to gain more revenue for the government through the excise department. AP government has sold out liquor worth Rs 25,000 crores last year and the profits are said to be Rs 20,000 crores. The Excise Department shared the feedback with the government officials after which the decision was taken.

The AP government restricted the sale of some of the top brands and introduced new brands after which people started liquor smuggling. The government lost badly because of this though special checkposts are arranged at the state borders. AP government now decided to sell off the licenses so that they can earn much bigger through the liquor sale. Liquor worth Rs 1900 crores is sold every month in the government wine shops. The AP government targets to earn Rs 3000 crores through the liquor sales soon. The price of liquor in AP is higher when compared to other states and this is a reason for the dent.
