Narendra Modi lauds the efforts of ICRISAT Scientists:- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his tour to Hyderabad and tight security has been imposed across the city after the recent Punjab security breach incident created a sensation. Narendra Modi was present to inaugurate the ICRISAT's Climate Change Research Facility on Plant Protection and Rapid Generation Advancement Facility. He also launched a commemorative stamp that was issued on the 50th Anniversary celebrations of ICRISAT in Hyderabad. He lauded the efforts of the scientists and their contributions. He said that they contributed so much for the last 50 years. and he expected a lot more from them in the next 50 years. He also unveiled the Golden Jubilee Logo on the occasion.
"The services of ICRISAT are making agriculture more profitable. There should be a greater productivity with less consumption of water. AP and Telangana states have created more varieties of crops with some less harvest time. Eighty percent of the country has small farmers and they are in crisis. There is an urgent need to reduce the cost of cultivation. ICRISAT has been working hard on the research and innovation. The climate research is very useful for farmers. India is now a platform for global research on the climate change tolerance. This issue has been given a priority in the Union budget to focus much on digital agriculture and natural farming" told Narendra Modi during his speech.
