KCR announces Rs 5 lakh Insurance Cover for Dalits:- The government of Telangana is focused on the empowerment of Dalits. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) announced that the TRS government will deposit Rs 10 lakhs into the bank accounts of all the dalits in the state. This triggered criticism but KCR was not much bothered about the allegations of the opposition parties. He named the scheme as Dalit Bandhu and it would kickstart before the Huzurabad bypolls. KCR came up with a new promise of providing insurance cover of Rs 5 lakhs for the dalit families in Telangana. Without stopping here, KCR announced reservations for Dalits in the businesses which will help them economically. A day-long orientation program took place in Pragathi Bhavan yesterday and the meeting was chaired by KCR. 430 Dalit leaders were present for the meeting which included two men and women from each gram panchayat of Huzurabad constituency were invited for the meeting.

KCR interacted with them and collected theif feedback about the Dalit Bandhu. He wanted them to express their ideas of how to implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme in the state. On a pilot basis, the Dalit Bandhu will start from Huzurabad constituency. KCR is discussing about how to extend the scheme across the state in the coming future. All the eligible beneficiaries will be provided with a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakhs in Telangana. They will be supported to take up businesses in the state which are related to the government and private. There are debates going on about how KCR will pool the funds for the scheme as the state is in crisis because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The date will be announced by KCR very soon before the election campaign in Huzurabad before the bypolls.
