Serum Institute of India reduces the price of Covishield vaccine dose:- Serum Institute of India (SII) announced that they slashed down the price of Covishield vaccine per dose to Rs 300 from Rs 400. Adar Poonawalla announced the news through a tweet. "As a philanthropic gesture on behalf of Serum Institute of India, I hereby reduce the price to the states from Rs.400 to Rs.300 per dose, effective immediately; this will save thousands of crores of state funds going forward. This will enable more vaccinations and save countless lives" posted Adar Poonawalla on his twitter page. There is huge demand for the coronavirus vaccines in the country as the Centre announced the vaccination for all the people of the country aged between 18 and 45 from May 1st.

After the prices announced are higher, the states along with the hospitals announced their anger. Soon Serum Institute of India made an announcement about slashing down the prices. The state governments along with the private hospitals can order up to 50 percent of Covishield and Covaxin. Some of the states announced that they would vaccinate the people for free from May 1st. For Centre, Serum Institute of India announced that they will continue to offer a vaccination shot for Rs 150. Earlier to this, SII announced that the vaccination shot for the state would cost Rs 400 and it would be Rs 600 for the private hospitals. After facing the heat all over, SII revised the prices and announced the updated price today.
