1.15 lakh new coronavirus cases reported in the country:- A total number of 1,15,736 new cases of coronavirus are reported in the country in the last 24 hours in India taking the total tally of cases to 1,28,01,785. 59,856 people got discharged in the last 24 hours and 630 people passed away in India in the past one day. As per the reports coming from the Union Health Ministry, the total number of recoveries in the country are 1,17,92,135 and there are 8,43,473 active cases of coronavirus in the country. A total number of 1,66,177 people passed away in India due to coronavirus till date. The mass vaccination program is happening at a fast pace and the total number of people who took up coronavirus vaccination are said to be 8,70,77,474. This is the highest ever tally of single day hike in the country till date.
As per the reports coming from the Indian Council of Medical Research, the total samples tested for coronavirus in India till yesterday are 25,14,39,598 and the samples tested yesterday are 12,08,329. With the situation quite alarming, the Indian government said that the next four weeks are quite crucial for the country. The spread of coronavirus currently is quite faster than the first wave in the country. Maharashtra reported more than 55,000 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and Chhattisgarh reported 9900 cases in the last one day. Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi continued to report high number of coronavirus cases. World Health Organization Chief Scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan cautioned the people to be extra cautious saying the consequences would be terrible if India heads for a second lockdown. Some of the states imposed night curfew currently and Maharashtra imposed full lockdown on weekends till the end of this month.
