AP Panchayat Elections Rescheduled:- In a major jolt to the government of Andhra Pradesh, the Supreme Court of India asked the State Election Commission to conduct the local body polls in the state. The State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar announced the schedule of the panchayat elections in eleven districts but the government of Andhra Pradesh headed to Supreme Court to stall the polls. After the Supreme Court announced the decision, the State Election Commission rescheduled the panchayat elections in the state. As the time is too less to conduct the polls, the state Election Commission decided to reschedule the polls.

As per the new schedule, the second phase would be conducted in the first phase of elections in Andhra Pradesh. The third phase is now moved to the second phase of polls and the fourth phase announced will have the third phase of elections scheduled. The final phase will be followed once the third phase of elections are completed. As per the previous schedule, the elections are planned to be held on February 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th. The latest schedule says that the local body polls in Andhra Pradesh will now take place on February 9th, 13th, 17th and 21st. The nominations for the first phase of the polls will be accepted from January 29th.
