Farmers Protest: Eighth Round of Talks on January 8th:- The seventh round of talks between the Farmer Unions and the Centre went unsuccessful. The talks took place last afternoon and continued till the evening. But none of them came on to a common stand about the new farm laws that are introduced by the Centre. The farmers are strict on their stand demanding the Centre to withdraw the new three farm laws. The Centre is ready to make amendments for the farm laws. The protest of the farmers at the national capital border reached 41st day and the next round of talks are scheduled to take place on January 8th. The protest started on November 26th and some of the roads leading to the national capital are blocked.

The farmers staged their protests facing severe cold, rains and harsh weather conditions from the last 40 days. The Centre is keen to discuss about the problematic clauses but the Farmer Unions wants the Centre to completely scrap the introduced farm laws. The farmers are worried that the government will stop buying grains at the minimum guaranteed prices under the new farm laws. They are also fearing that the corporations would push the prices down. The Farmer Unions threatened the government to hold a tractor rally on January 26th marking the Republic Day of the country.

Some of the farmer leaders said that the government's ego is leaving the lives of the farmers in troubles. Despite of the continuous rainfall, the farmers staged protests at the Singhu border.
