Metro Services to be Extended to 25 Indian Cities by 2025:- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the metro services will be expanded across 25 Indian cities in the country by 2025 in the process of Make in India program. The first metro in India started in 2014 after the ex-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee kept his efforts for years. The metro was available in five major cities initially and it is now expanded across 18 cities. Narendra Modi said that the services would be expanded across 25 more Indian cities of the country by the year 2025. Modi said that the metro saves cost and provides employment for hundreds of people.

Narendra Modi inaugurated the first ever driverless train on Delhi Metro's magenta line today. He also launched the National Common Mobility Card on the Airport line through a video conference. "It is noted that the modern modes of transport should be used for the commuters to move in the cities. The best mode is metro which is safe, convenient. Hence, we are in plans to introduce metros in several cities. Delhi and Meerut RRTS will reduce the travel journey to less than an hour. These metros will be made at 40 percent cost of the normal metro. Four big companies are manufacturing metro coaches in the country" said Narendra Modi.
