Supreme Court Allows the Sale of Green Crackers in Telangana

Supreme Court Allows the Sale of Green Crackers in Telangana:- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) announced a ban of the usage of firecrackers in the country considering the rise in the pollution levels and the coronavirus pandemic. Several states of the country voluntarily announced the ban of firecrackers. The Telangana High Court announced the ban of firecrackers yesterday but the state government granted permissions and licenses to sell the crackers. The Telangana Fire Workers Dealers Association received a rude shock and they revealed that they would lose crores of rupees because of the sudden decision taken.

The Telangana Fire Workers Dealers Association challenged the decision of the High Court in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court in a huge relief allowed the sale of green crackers in the state. Considering the heavy investments made, the Supreme Court allowed the use of crackers in Telangana. As the Supreme Court is shut, the case was heard by a vacation bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjiv Khanna. The bench issued notices to the opposing parties. Many states like Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Assam, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and others banned the use of firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali.
