YS Jagan Asks Centre to Consider the Revised Cost of Polavaram Project

YS Jagan Asks Centre to Consider the Revised Cost of Polavaram Project:- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy asked the Centre along with the Ministry of Jal Shakti to consider the revised cost of the Polavaram project. A detailed review was conducted and YS Jagan raised the issue of reimbursement of Rs 4013.65 crores that are incurred by the government of Andhra Pradesh on Polavaram project. Rs 2234.28 crores has been proposed as the extra budget release by the Finance Ministry. The cost of the revised irrigation component should be approved by the Polavaram Project Authority at Rs 20,398.61 crores on April 1st, 2014. The cost revision is taken for consideration by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The entire cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 55,448.87 crores at 2017-18 price level. PPA and Central Water Commission (CWC) approved the project. The Revised Cost Committee (RCC) estimated the budget to be Rs 47,725.74 crores. YS Jagan said that the lang acquisition along with the rehabilitation alone costed Rs 29,000 crores and the capping of the project cost is said to be Rs 20,398.61 crores. He also said that the Polavaram project is declared as the national project and it is Centre's responsibility to handle the project and complete it as per the AP Reorganization Act, 2014.

YS Jagan also said that the Polavaram project is monitored by the PPA under the Union government and the government of Andhra Pradesh is just executing the plan. YS Jagan wanted the officials to take the issue to the Centre and discuss about the revised cost estimate.
