Bharat Biotech says that the Animal Trials of COVAXINE are Successful:- Bharat Biotech that is based in Hyderabad announced that its developed vaccine for coronavirus named COVAXINE completed its successful trials on animals. COVAXINE happened to be the first vaccine developed in the country. "Bharat Biotech proudly announces the animal study results of COVAXINE. These results demonstrate the protective efficacy in a live viral challenge model," posted Bharat Biotech on their official social media page. Bharat Biotech also said that the human trials for the COVAXINE have already begun recently. Bharat Biotech has developed the vaccine in association with ICMR and the National Institute of Virology.

The vaccine has been given to 20 rhesus macaques which are divided into four equal groups. The results are extremely positive after 14 days. The results showed protective efficacy after they are exposed to a viral challenge 14 days after the second dose was given to the group. There was no evidence of pneumonia among the animals. There was nothing much observed among the groups. The human trials of COVAXINE are happening in 12 centers across the country. The second phase of human trials are currently happening and they started earlier this week. This week, the vaccine that is developed by the University of Oxford has been kept on hold after one of the volunteers faced issues. The human trials for this vaccine is kept on hold.
