KCR Orders CID Probe in Srisailam Power Plant Fire Accident

KCR Orders CID Probe in Srisailam Power Plant Fire Accident:- Telangana woke up to a shock after nine persons are trapped inside in the underground unit of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited in Srisailam. Out of the 17, eight of them escaped from the spot and nine are trapped inside. The rescue operations started last night and they could recover six bodies of the engineers and the employees from the accident spot. A short circuit is said to be the reason for the fire accident and 30 firefighters are still working to bring the situations under control. Three others are still missing and are yet to be traced. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed the Additional Director General of CID, Govind Singh to probe into the matter at the earliest and submit a report.

The engineers and other employees have been on a maintenance job when the incident took place last night at 10:30 PM. Chief Engineer (Srisailam Left Bank Hydro Electric Station) Prabhakar Rao told that the bodies have been recovered from the crown tunnel which is one among the two tunnels built to escape. Most of them died of asphyxiation said the preliminary reports. The fire officials said that people are feared trapped in different floors. The officials said that they are focused to on rescuing the people and two teams comprising of 20 members are roped in for the rescue work. NDRF is also supporting the rescue operations.
