Telangana Warns Strict Action Against Homeowners Asking For Rents:- The Telangana government issued strict orders for the homeowners not to ask rent for three months for the properties that are leased for residential purposes. The government warned the violators of strict punishment if they mount pressure against the tenants. With the effect from March 2020, the property owners are asked to to defer collecting the rents for three months and no interest should be levied said Telangana government. The government also asked to collect this pending amount in installments soon.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued a Government Order saying "Whoever violates these orders shall be liable for punishment as contemplated under Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and Sections 51 to 58 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005". All the District Magistrates, Municipal Commissioners and Collectors are directed to implement all these orders. 35 complaints have been received in the state in just two days after which the government issued a GO. A larger section of people lives in rented houses.

With the coronavirus outbreak, all the people are badly impacted and most of them are left jobless. Hence the government wanted the property owners to consider their requests. This would also result in the displacement of tenants and they may get infected with the virus in this tough time.
