Nirbhaya Case: Court Issues Death Warrant for all the Four Convicts:- A New Delhi court today issued death sentence for the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case that created a sensation in 2012. Exactly after seven years, the final verdict is out. All the four accused in the case will be hanged on January 22nd at 7 AM. Akshay Thakur Singh, Mukesh, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma were found guilty of raping and killing a young medical student in a moving bus in Delhi. "This judgment will reinforce people's faith in the judiciary. My daughter will get justice," said Nirbhaya's mother.
The Supreme Court last month dismissed the last review petition in the case that was filed by Akshay Singh. After this, Nirbhaya's mother wanted the lower court to issue death warrant but the judge deferred the decision till today. Ram Singh, the fifth accused, committed suicide and a juvenile was released after three years in a reform home. The deadly incident took place on December 16th, 2012 and the victim died on December 29th. The convicts are currently in Tihar jail, New Delhi and the officials started the preparations for the hanging.
