AP Assembly Passes Bill for Death to Rapists:- The Andhra Pradesh Assembly yesterday passed the bill for death to rapists in the house unanimously. The death penalty will be awarded for the rapists after the culprit is proved accused. The other bill passed awards stringent punishment for other sexual offenses against women. Named as Disha Bill 2019, AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that fast track courts will be set up to serve the judgment at the earliest. The judgment period too has been reduced to 21 days.
It was four months' time for judgment as per Nirbhaya Act, 2013 and Criminal Amendment Act, 2018. The investigation should be completed in seven days and the trial process should be completed in the next 14 days. YS Jagan said that he was completely left shattered with Disha incident and decided to take stringent action on all those who commit crimes against women. TDP leaders too supported the bill and it was passed unanimously in AP Assembly.
