Siachen Avalanche: Four Soldiers and Two Civilians Killed:- Four soldiers along with two civilians got killed after they got trapped in an avalanche on Glacier northern sector in Siachen yesterday. As per the officials, eight people got trapped in the avalanche around 3PM yesterday and the rescue team stepped in to the location to pull them out. The Avalanche Rescue Team managed to pull all the eight from the debris and they are evacuated by helicopters to the nearest Military Hospital. Despite of their efforts, six people (four soldiers and two civilians) lost their lives.

The soldiers are a part of the patrol and they are said to have been trapped at a height between 18,000 and 19,000 feet above the sea level. "Deeply pained by the demise of soldiers and porters due to avalanche in Siachen. I salute their courage and service to the nation. My heartfelt condolences to their families" posted Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Under extreme weather conditions, a team of 150 army personnel rushed to the spot to rescue the people.The Siachen is the world's highest battlefield. The site was reopened for visit for tourists from last month.
