Supreme Court Rejects Chidambaram's Bail Plea: Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has been nabbed by the CBI and ED officials last week in relation with INX Media Case. The Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea that is filed by Chidambaram. The top court will also gear about the fresh plea filed by Chidambaram against the trial court sending him to CBI custody. The Supreme Court said that it cannot convert their petition against the rejection of anticipatory bail by the Delhi High Court.

Justice R Banumathi observed that the plea against anticipatory bail has become infructuous and Chidambaram’s lawyers – Kapil Sibal and AM Singhvi – had not yet filed a third petition against the CBI remand. Chidambaram's five-day CBI custody ends today. The CBI is likely to ask for an extension of his custody at a special court. CBI may argue about the new evidence that came to light during the investigation that has been done from the past four days. Chidambaram is accused in infusing foreign funds into his INX Media when he was the Finance Minister of the country.
