Tough battle in Amethi: Rahul Gandhi Vs Smriti Irani:- Congress is facing a tough time in the country once again and BJP managed to sweep and show sheer domination in the Lok Sabha polls in the country. Congress President Rahul Gandhi who contested from Amethi is facing tough competition in the constituency. BJP's candidate Smriti Irani who campaigned aggressively in the constituency is now leading over Rahul Gandhi. The Congress Chief also contested from Kerala's Wayanad and he is leading from the segment.

Amethi located in 130kms from Lucknow has been a fort for Congress. Rahul continued to represent the constituency. But this time, things are completely different. Smriti Irani did enough groundwork and launched several schemes when BJP was in power. She kept visiting the constituency on a regular basis. Rahul Gandhi visited Amethi only once and did not focus much which turned out to be a huge advantage for him. Congress did not lose the seat in the last three decades except in 1998.
