Post Easter Sunday, Burqa Banned in Sri Lanka:- The island country Sri Lanka is left shattered with the Easter Sunday attacks in eight locations that killed hundreds. The Sri Lankan Government banned burqas that are used to cover faces in the wake of terror bombings. Over 250 people passed away and hundreds have been injured. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe has stated that since the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), the organization of Muslim clerics in Sri Lanka has proposed to ban the burqa.
The Minister of Justice will discuss with the council about this and will draft the necessary legislation. Sri Lankan parliamentarian MP Ashu Marasinghe had submitted a Private Member's Motion to ban burqa on security grounds. Several men have been using them and are staging attacks confirmed Marasinghe. Muslim leaders accepted that burqa is not a traditional Muslim attire and can be banned after which the Prime Minister wanted the action to be implemented. The country is still on high alert as the Intelligence reported a series of blasts in the country.
