Mahakutami Row: Congress Compromises on Seats Allocation: Right after dissolving the Assembly, the ruling TRS announced the candidates of all the constituencies and the TRS leaders have been busy with their election campaigns in their respective constituencies. Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI joined hands to take against TRS and formed Mahakutami. The biggest challenge came here after the seat allotment turned hectic and a huge headache. Congress decided to hold the lion's share in Mahakutami.

However with the ongoing discussions, Congress had to step down and contest in 90 seats though they initially wanted to contest in 95 constituencies. With TJS and CPI threatening to walk out of the alliance, Congress stepped into damage control mode and decided to cut down their number of seats. CPI will now contest in 5-9 seats and they announced that CPI holds Bellampalli, Kothagudem, Wyra, Husnabad, Pinapaka, Mancherial, Devarakonda and Munugode. TJS too is keen on contesting in 10 constituencies. Congress is busy convincing their leaders in these five constituencies.
