Internal War In CBI: Summons For CBI Chief:- The Deputy Superintendent of Police Devendar Kumar has been arrested in connection with the bribery allegations that involved special director and second in command Rakesh Asthana. The searches have been initiated in the office and residence of Devendar Kumar and mobile phones along with an iPad have been seized. With the arrest of Devendar Kumar, the rift between CBI director Alok Verma and the deputy Chief Mr Asthana turned worse. Alok Verma called up the Prime Minister's office after which a meeting has been staged.
Mr Asthana has been heading several sensitive cases which includes Vijay Mallya and Agusta Westland Chopper scam. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) called for the files of several cases which were mentioned by Asthana in his complaint. Alok Verma and Mr Asthana made allegations on each other. Devendar Kumar has been arrested in the charges of forgery in recording the statement of Satish Sana, a businessman. There are talks that Kumar has been paid bribes to get relief in the case.
