Solar Scam Report Tabled In Kerala Assembly:- The judicial commission report related to solar scam case against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and others has been tabled on Thursday by the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala Assembly.
According to the report, the prime accused in the solar scam, Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan were allegedly helped by Chandy and his staff members - Tenny Joppen, Jikkumon Jacob and gunman Salim Raj in cheating the clients.
Moreover, to ensure that Chandy is extricated from all the criminal liability, the then Home Minister T Radhakrishnan made all efforts. When the United Democratic Front (UDF) government led by Chandy was in power, the solar scam took place in 2013.
In connection with the case, an enquiry against Chandy and others was directed by Vijayan on October 11. After the Commission headed by Justice G Sivarajan, submitted its final report to the Chief Minister, his directive comes hereafter. Mr. Sivarajan probed the multi-crore scam.
After promising to set up solar panels, Sarith and her live-in partner Biju Radhakrishnan swindled lakhs from several people. They were business partners in a Kochi based firm, the Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions Private Limited. In October 2013, and in December 2016, they were arrested.
The duo had been sentenced to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each by the Judicial Magistrate Court in Perumbavoor. As a part of the deal, the former chief minister and some of his cabinet colleagues, and it was revealed during the investigation.
In December 2016, Chandy had deposed before the Commission saying that the charges against him were politically motivated.
