50k Reward For Brave Cop Who Saved 400 Lives in MP:- A cash reward of Rs 50,000 has been announced by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan for a head constable, Abhishek Patel. The brave cop, to save the lives of 400 children, sprinted for almost a kilometre with a 10 kilogram-bomb to deposit it at a spot far from human habitation.

An anonymous call was received by the police, about the presence of an explosive in a school in Chitora village. The village is located in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. There was no bomb disposal squad at hand. Patel picked it up with his bare hands and ran, after the bomb was found on Friday morning.

A 12-second video clip of Patel running with the bomb on his shoulder went viral on social media. The policeman later said he had been in a drill where a similar bomb was spotted, and in which he had done a similar sprint.

“We got the information from Dial 100. Since it was a residential area and a school compound, my only aim was to carry the bomb as far away as possible from there,” Mr Patel later said. “We have learnt during our training that had it exploded, it would have damaged 500 meters of the surrounding area.”

All India Congress Committee Ashok Gehlot said Patel had “shown a great sense of duty and courage.”

“Patel and his entire unit, who rushed to save children, deserve our applause,” he tweeted.

It is yet unknown where the bomb came from. A similar bomb was found in Bannad village in Sagar, a few days ago. The matter is currently under investigation.

“There is an army range close to the village. The police will investigate how the bomb reached the village,” said Satish Saxena, a senior officer of the local police.

“The entire police team, along with Mr Patel, will be rewarded for displaying exemplary courage”, the officials said.
