Data Privacy: Govt fears about Chinese Phonemakers: With Nokia almost vanished and Samsung struggling to dominate the mobile market in the country, the Chinese phonemakers took the lead and they have been dominating the Indian circuits clearly. Mobile companies like MI, Oppo, Vivo and Gionee have shattered the Indian markets and the Indian government has been left in deep shock after they came across some shocking facts. Now the Indian government has been left in deep fear that the Chinese Phonemakers have been compromising on the data of the Indian users. The government asked the Chinese Phonemakers to furnish the security and safety aspects.

IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad held a high level meeting which discussed about the data passage. The user information like contacts, messages, images along with the location of the user has been procured illegally and the information has been sent to various third party users that reside in many foreign countries. This will sure turn out to be a serious threat for the country and is against violating the privacy of the individuals.

Now Indian Government has been quite concerned about this data exchange and is quite keen on Chinese Phonemakers. A close watch has been kept on Chinese Phonemakers and the concerns over the device, operating system, browser and apps are closely monitored. The Government issued notices to 21 Chinese Phonemakers and the notice read as “Under Section 70B (6) of the IT Act, you are hereby requested to provide a detailed, structured written response about the safety and security practices, architecture, frameworks, guidelines standards etc followed and implemented in your product services, provided in the country”.
