The bail was granted on a surety of Rs 50,000 each involved in the case. All the 12 accused have been granted bail in the case. This was the first time, that these BJP leaders have appeared before a court in connection with the case. The Supreme Court, last month had restored the criminal conspiracy charges framed against Advani, Joshi, Bharti and other accused. Moreover, the judgment given by the Allahabad High Court was overruled by the SC.

The discharge application filed by the accused, including the senior BJP Leaders has been rejected by the Special CBI court. Now, the charges will be framed against all the accused in the case. According to reports, charges under section 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code have been framed against LK Advani and others. Section 120B stands for criminal conspiracy.

Apart from the senior BJP leaders, BJP leader Vinay Katiyar, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Vishnu Hari Dalmia and one-time firebrand Hindutva preacher Sadhvi Ritambara were also summoned to appear before the court.

The BJP leaders, on May 26, were ordered to appear by the Special CBI court. Special CBI Judge, SK Yadav, while directing the accused to present themselves in person, had said no application for exemption or adjournment from personal appearance shall be entertained. The charges would also be levied against Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Mahant Ram Vilas Vedanti, Baikunth Lal Sharma alias Prem Ji, Champat Rai Bansal, Mahant Dharma Das, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya and Satish Pradhan.

Before the hearing, UP CM Yogi Adityanath greeted Advani, Joshi and others at the VVIP guest house in Lucknow.

The top court referred the destruction of the monument of medieval-era, a “crime”. This demolition shook the “Secular Fabric of the Constitution”. It further allowed the CBI petition seeking restoration of criminal conspiracy charge against the four BJP leaders, including Vinay Katiyar (62), and others.

The top court said, BJP leader, Kalyan Singh, who is the Rajasthan Governor, is entitled to immunity under the Constitution until he remains in service. The disputed structure was demolished during Singh’s tenure as the CM of UP. The case was transferred by the court against the senior BJP leaders, and the other three accused from a Raebareli court to Lucknow for a joint trial.
