TRS To Take A Final Call On Saturday Over Presidential Polls

TRS To Take A Final Call On Saturday Over Presidential Polls:- The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will work out its strategy on whom to support in the upcoming Presidential elections at its legislature party meeting is scheduled for Saturday.

The elections are scheduled to be held in July. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that the party is yet to take a decision on the issue on the joint opposition candidate for the Presidential elections. A meeting of party’s MP’s, MLAs, MLCs has been called to decide on the issue on May 27.

Earlier, a senior lawmaker from his party said that the TRS would support any candidate that the BJP fields for the Presidential elections. The CM was also quite appreciative of the corruption-free rule of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and stated that he was the first chief minister to support Modi on demonetization, Niti Aayog because they were aimed for the good of the country and the people.

The decision however, seems to be taken a dramatic shift after BJP Chief Amit Shah’s visit to Telangana. Some of the party MPs already had informal discussions with KCR on the issue.

Amit Shah in a public meeting, had claimed that the TRS Government had failed to reach the benefits of the central programmes to the people in the state. The allegation made by Shah might have irked the chief minister that he called a press conference and alleged that Shah is humiliating the TRS and the people of Telangana.

It can be recalled that YSRC Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy has already pledged his support to the  National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Tamil Nadu CM E Palanisamy also met PM Modi yesterday and is believed to have discussed the presidential election.
