The Government of India to increase the salary of the President of India from current 1.5 lakh a month to Rs. 5 lakhs, on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, according to the reports.
The Union Government, reports said, is also ready to pass the recommendation as the current salaries of the President and the Vice President is lower than the salary of the Cabinet Secretary, which is around 2.5 lakh a month.
The salary of the Vice President is all set to increase from the current Rs. 1.10 lakh per month to Rs. 3.5 lakh a month. Earlier the President’s salary was increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh.
The government is looking to pass this implementation of increasing the salary by 200% in the upcoming winter session of Parliament. Once passed, the implementation of the new decision will come into effect from January 2017.
Additionally, after retirement, President is set to get the pension of Rs. 1.5 lakh. The wives of the Presidents will be getting a secretarial assistance of Rs. 30,000 a month.
