Army said, "some militants attacked an Army camp in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday, prompting security forces to retaliate."

"No casualties were reported at the 30 Rashtriya Rifles headquarters in Handwara town. At around 5 am, militants opened firing on an Army camp at Langate in Kupwara district, which was retaliated by the alert jawans," an army official said.

He said, "there was a stand-off firing for about 15-20 minutes and two terrorists were reportedly killed in the exchange of fire."

"The troops were alert and the attack was foiled. A search operation was going on," the official said.

The Army official said, "meanwhile, the militants again opened fire at the forces who were conducting the search operation."

"There was firing once again on the camp at 6:30 am as the forces were conducting the search operation," the official said.

He said, "the operation was on and additional forces have been rushed to the area."

This is the third attack after massive search operations were launched. The first attack took place in Uri on September 18. Three days ago militants attacked an army base camp in Baramulla where one BSF soldier lost his life.
