Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker's bad time is still haunting him in the 2014 election code violation case. In a TV interview in June, Kodela reveled that he had to spend Rs. 11.50 crores during his 2014 contest against YSRCP's Ambati Rambabu. This statement given by him is still haunting him with several enquiries.
A lawyer named Alexander Sudhakar complained President of India requesting him to take action against the AP Speaker soon. The Union Home Ministry was directed by Rashtrapati Bhavan to take necessary action.
The Home Ministry then directed the Chief Election Commissioner of India and Chief Secretary of India to take necessary action. They were even asked them to update the Rashtrapati Bhavan about their action against Kodela.
According to the election code of conduct, no candidate should spend more than Rs. 28 lakhs while contesting on an MLA ticket. In his petition, Alexander Sudhakar alleged that "Kodela had influenced his voters by buying them with money and eventually winning the election in an injudicious manner."
