In a bizarre case, a Water Board official, who went to have dinner at Green Park hotel, lost his car from the hotel's valet parking late on Wednesday night. The hotel authorities told him that a person who claimed to accompany him drove his car out.
SR Nagar police said “Narayana, after attending to some work at the Indo-American Cancer Hospital, drove his I-10 to reach Green Park hotel around midnight. He gave his car keys to the hotel driver, who gave him a token as per rule. But, when he came out after dinner, the hotel authorities told him that his car was taken away by a man who accompanied him.”
Narayana was taken aback with the reply and clarified that there was nobody with him. He later realized that some car thief duped the driver of the valet parking and slipped away from the premises with his car. According to police, after Narayana handed over his car to valet parking, one person got inside it and sat in the back seat as the hotel driver took over the wheel.
"The accused posed himself as Narayana's friend and told the driver that since he was feeling uneasy, he wanted to sit in the car until the former returned. Then the hotel driver took the I-10 from the portico and parked it to a side and got down leaving the key inside. A few minutes later, the miscreant sped away with the car," SR Nagar inspector Mohammed Waheeduddin said.
A theft case has been registered. Police are trying to trace out the car wit the car number given by the owner.
