Students’ unions ABVP and TGVP staged a protest in front of the house of district Minister Jagadish Reddy in Suryapet on Wednesday. They raised slogans against the government and the Minister for failing to control the fee collections by private schools in the State.
The leaders of the organizations demanded the government implementation of the Right to Education in private schools, which allots 25 percent of total seats of private schools to poor students free of cost.
Addressing the gathering, student leaders alleged that the government is favoring corporate institutions by ignoring the interests of poor rural students, who are pursuing education without basic amenities and staff. Â
They demanded the government improvement of facilities and provision of required staff in government schools and colleges to realise the dream of Golden Telangana.
On information, police rushed to the spot and tried to disperse the students but received stiff resistance from the students. Later they forcibly shifted the protesters to police station in autos.
