Machilipatnam has become the talk of the town. Why? The world’s biggest Shirdi Saibaba statue has grab the attention.
The 54-foot-high and 36-foot-wide statue has got a new look. The statue has been made of cement and was built by Lakshmipuram Vittal Rao. It has been sculpted by A. Manikyala Rao and his son Venkateswara Rao.
The statue was installed in Machilipatnam in 2007. Many tourists and devotees from acroos the country come to visit the temple.
This statue is a single masterpiece. Saibaba is seen sitting, with two tigers and a tortoise under his foot.
“The beautification works will be completed within two weeks. Modernisation of the temple and beautification of the statue have been a long dream realised this year,” according to an official statement by the temple committee.
Dozen of workers had to work day and night to give the statue a new look. In 2007, the Indian Book of Records had declared that the statue was the biggest from all the Saibaba temples in the world. The statue is located at the Zilla Court Centre. It is now the biggest tourist attractions in Krishna district.
