Kerala police’s kid drives official vehicle, case filed

After an Inspector General (IG) was allowing his minor son to drive the official vehicle and the incident was caught on the CCTV footage, the Kerala court has now ordered to file a case on the concerned official.

As per the orders of the Thrissur Juvenile Justice Court, Thrissur, a case was filed against IG Suresh Raj Purohit.

Kerala High Court earlier, citing the matter does not come under the purview of the bureau, had restrained the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, from taking further action in the case.

On the other side, Purohit even declared the war, by filing the petition,  challenging the order. When the case came up for the hearing, the court asked,  whether a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act would sustain, and asserted that, if the Vigilance was yet to register a criminal case on the complaint, it would have to approach the vigilance court for appropriate order.

K.T. Benny of Vadakkanchery complained against Purohit, and it was then, the vigilance court order, moved forward.

The issue led to huge controversy over the social media and also several other areas, after the CCTV footage featuring IG’s son, driving the official vehicle and IG sitting beside, was aired on the TV channels.
