After Andhra Pradesh is assured a good special package instead of special status, even Telangana state officials are now falling back of the centre, for a similar kind of package.

Reportedly, Telangana government is urging the centre for Rs. 34000 crores financial help from the central government, for the various programmes to be implemented in the state, in the next four years, for the welfare of the public.

Regarding this, on Tuesday, B P Acharya, Planning Department’s principal secretary, had submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Aravind Panagaria at Delhi. He was accompanied by Ramachandrudu, the government’s special envoy at Delhi and also G R Reddy, the government’s advisor.    

The officials reminded about the government’s promises, to provide the funds for the backward regions of the state, which are made in Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.

Projects to be benefitted by special package to Telangana  

Water Grid and Mission Kakatiya are said to be the prestigious projects of Telangana and it is these projects that will be first allocated the funds, as many backward regions are going to be benefitted through it, if the centre releases the special package, as urged by the state government.  
 
When NITI VC Panagaria visited the Telangana state, various talks between him and CM KCR are held and the former reportedly assured the help from the centre, after knowing the status of the backward regions in the state. 

Telangana reduced its special package amount!

In the beginning, the Telangana government urged for Rs. 50000 crores special package, but as NITI Aayog advised to decrease the amount, and finally came down to Rs. 34000 crores, after making the several cost analysis for the projects.

Mission Kakatiya and Water Grid programmes are planned to construct massive outlay for renovation of the tank system and to provide drinking water through taps to every house hold. So these huge projects require nearly Rs. 50000 crores, which the state government alone cannot afford to spend on the projects.  

So, it even applied for the external loans from the international funding agencies like JAICA and World Bank.

It is an open fact that, Telangana government is running behind the centre for the financial package, after the AP is assured such package on the beforehand. As reportedly, NITI Aayog already assured package, there are chances of Telangana being offered the special package.
