Lalit Modi’s Secretary colluded and deleted emails

An income tax investigation launched against former IPL chairman Lalit Modi revealed that his secretary Deepa Palekar, who is handling all his business affairs and director in nine of his companies, had deleted all the mails till April 2010, which could have given valuable information on his business transactions and his dealings with top politicians cutting across party lines.

Palekar, was operating eight email accounts, but in one account, communications were found only after April 2010. When questioned about it by I-T officials, she said mails were deleted as all the work related to them are completed. For other accounts, she claimed that the mails got deleted as the "computer had a problem". The I-T department may take necessary steps to retrieve the deleted files.

The registered office of all the companies are 3rd floor, Nirlon House, AB Road, Worli, Mumbai. Palekar has created eight email accounts to transact business of these companies, but has not provided any record of emails till Modi was running the IPL and was present in India.

Modi has paid his secretary handsomely. Palekar, who is a masters in economics and an MBA, drew an annual package of Rs 45.60 lakh. She was the director of Ananda Advisory Services Pvt Ltd and Ananda Developers Pvt Ltd and seven others, except Integrated Technology Services Pvt Ltd. AHHPL is a related concern, according to the I-T department. She told the I-T department that Ananda Advisory Services and Ananda Developers Pvt Ltd are set up in January 2007. Voyages Entertainment Pvt Ltd was set up in 2005 to sell travel packages. Criclive.com India Pvt Ltd was shut down along with Neon Solutions, which was incorporated in 2001 for online lottery business. Integrated Technology Services Pvt Ltd is also set up for the lottery business.

The I-T department had asked for the books of accounts related to all the 10 companies of Modi, along with its related concerns such as Modi Entertainment Ltd and Ananda Heritage Hotels Pvt Ltd (AHHPL) from April 2003, as nothing was recovered during the search operation.

The tainted former IPL chairman is back in the news and is creating controversies against the people whoever has helped him. External affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajastan Chief Minister Vusundhrara Raje are into the controversies associated with Lalit Modi. He has become a liability for whoever associated with him.

Tainted former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has also invoked the names of British royalty, including Prince Charles and his brother Andrew, for seeking his travel papers from the UK Home Office. He has tried his level best to link all his friends into the controversy of his wrong doing.
