Over a nine-month coalition campaign, more than 10,000 jihadists have been killed in air strikes against the Islamic State group, US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said. "We have seen enormous losses from Daesh (IS), more than 10,000 since the beginning of the campaign and this will end up having an impact," Blinken told. "The Islamic State now controls around 25 percent less of Iraq after nine months, a lot of their equipment has been destroyed and many Daesh members have been eliminated," Blinken said.
State Department spokeswoman, Marie Harf, warned that Islamic State continued to replace fighters "taken off the battlefield." Iraq's ambassador to France, Fareed Yasseen, said the allies had heeded Baghdad's calls for more weapons to combat the group. "The Americans have promised us and will shortly deliver missiles that will make the difference against these truck bombs which made us lose Ramadi, the French will be giving us similar weapons, ammunition and we are discussing other cooperation projects," the ambassador said.
A senior US envoy said that the growth of ISIL had global implications and could "wreak havoc on the progress of humanity" if unchecked. Retired Gen. John Allen, appointed by US president Barack Obama for building a coalition against ISIL has told a conference in Qatar, that the group is not merely an Iraqi problem or a Syrian problem but "a regional problem trending towards global implications". The group has already lost about a quarter of the areas, which it had once held in Iraq, but countering its ideology may take a generation or more, he told the Brookings Institution's U.S.-Islamic World Forum.
ISIS is into the most barbaric act with a sadistic attitude in which they are beheading everyone other than Muslims. They are also raping and torturing females and selling them in the slave markets. The world sees IS militants as the most uncivilized group which does not care for the life of others who are not Muslims. Many Muslims groups have already condemned the barbaric actions of the group. They have categorically stated that the sadistic attitude of Daesh is against Muslim Sharia.
