All set for Swachh Hyderabad

Telangana government is making all special arrangements and assuring the success of Swachh Hyderabad in the city with the support from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Lifts more garbage than ususual:

Previously, it was discussed that the government is going to held this programme and the dates of it were anyway scheduled from May 16 to 20. During this period, GHMC plans to to lift around 11,000 metric tonnes of garbage and debris, where actually just 3400 metric tonnes of garbage is lifted every day from the city.

Firstly, GHMC is planning to remove 4,000 metric tonnes of garbage and another 4,000 metric tonnes of debris to be able to lift around 55,000 metric tonnes during the programme. In a press release, Somesh Kumar, the GHMC Commissioner & Special Officer, said that required arrangements in terms of men and machinery were being put in place for this. In addition to the existing fleet of 400 mini vehicles, 500 big vehicles that can lift up to 6 metric tonnes of waste and 70 heavy trucks with lifting capacity of 20 metric tonnes are being readied for deployment.

Support from other corporate bodies

Other major corporates like HMR, L&T are also joining hands with GHMC and assuring their support for the Swachh Hyderabad initiative.

Not only cleaning the roads, but GHMC is also concentrating on repairing few of the roads which are considered as damaged. Specially the repairs of pot holes are given high importance. Regarding this, it is going to deploy 'Road Doctor' and pay him the charges based on the kilometres repaired.
