LoP to BJP in Delhi Assembly?

The Delhi Assembly will be meeting for two days for swearing of newly elected legislators and also selecting of new Assembly Speaker and his deputy. However, the interesting things, whether BJP will be granted the Leader of Opposition status or not. As well know the Saffron party has won only three seats in the recently concluded elections and it is one of the humiliating defeats ever. To get Leader of Opposition status, a party should get 10 percent seats of the total capacity of the Assembly. BJP is clearly short in this and as per the Constitution the party is not eligible for the position.

However, on the results day of elections, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas has tweeted that his party will give the Leader of Opposition status to BJP. But the things have changed as the AAP took charge of the government. On the second day of the Assembly Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung will address the House with his speech to provide a glimpse of the policies of the new government. The AAP government wants to discuss its election promises like the cheaper electricity and women's safety  on the first day itself. This may not be possible as the House should following the proceedings as it is a new Assembly.

Let's see whether BJP will get the Opposition status or not.
