The rape of an IT employee by the Uber Cab driver in December 2014 has once again shook the entire nation. The culprit is behind the bars and services of Uber cab were banned in major cities but in Hyderabad, Uber cabs can still be spotted on the roads. For failing to scrutinize the background records of the drivers, Uber services were banned in Delhi, Mumbai and other major cities across India, following the rape incident.
Taking on the US based company, the Uber rape survivor has hired a New York-based lawyer to sue it as Uber continues to provide its services in Hyderabad despite being banned. Attorney Douglas H Wigdor confirmed that he would be dealing the case of Uber rape victim. The Attorney recently met the victim and her family in Delhi and took valuable information. “Having met extensively with she and her family while in Delhi, I can only compliment them for their bravery and fortitude during this very difficult time. We will use all of our resources to vindicate my client's rights and hold those responsible for their actions,” he said.
The 25 year old MNC employer was sexually assaulted by the accused Shiv Kumar Yadav as the woman after she fall asleep on her way home and this incident took place in the national capital.
