Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to form government in the national capital as Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has asked President's permission to invite the single largest party in Delhi to form government. BJP is the single largest party with 29 MLAs and also has the support of one MLA from Shiromani Akali Dal. The letter of Delhi LG has been forwarded by the President to the Union home ministry for its opinion.
This is a mere shock to Aam Aadmi Party which has been forcing for fresh polls. The party claimed that this is unconstitutional and also slammed LG Jung for being biased to BJP the government. AAP leader Ashutosh said, “Inviting BJP to form government in Delhi shows the saffron party has influenced LG and this is unconstitutional.” However Delhi BJP said it would think over establishing government.
Meanwhile Independent MLA also supported LG's decision of asking the single largest party to form government in Delhi. BJP had 31 MLAs but two of them were elected to Lok Sabha and resigned to their MLA post in June. Delhi is in President's Rule since February as Arvind Kejriwal stepped down from the chief minister post as Jan Lokpal Bill got deferred in the Assembly.
