The Telangana Multi-System Operators [MSOs] are firm on the blocking the telecast of news channels TV9 and ABN AndhraJyothy in Telangana state despite getting orders from Union I & B minister Prakash Javadekar. On Monday, the association organised a press meet and claimed that TV9 and ABN channel managements are threatening them. They also said it is according to the wish of people, the channels are being screened in the state.
MSOs also added that they got a written format from Telangana Assembly Speaker, complaining about the channels for making derogatory remarks and publishing unclaimed news. “We took a collective decision after receiving a complaint from Telangana Assembly speaker and we have a right to telecast channels that represent peoples sentiments. We received notices from Union I & B ministry and also replied to the notice in proper way,” said one of the operator.
MSOs are also planning for a Delhi tour to meet Prakash Javadekar and explain the consequences of the episode. Overall, MSOs are not compromising on the issue and Telangana government is quite relieved with MSOs taking the responsibility.
