Loan waiver in four districts only

The Reserve Bank of India which is confusing, government and people on farm loan waiver scheme, has once again made familiar statements. The Central bank today said to Andhra Pradesh government that only four districts from AP state can avail farm loan waiver scheme and bank loans of Cooperative, Grameen and Commercials will be waived. The four districts are Krishna, Nellore, Srikakulam and Vizainagaram. RBI clarified that rescheduling of gold loans and other loans is not possible and they needed to be paid with immediate effect.

Another twist on the loan waiver issue and we have to see how Andhra Pradesh government responds on the matter. Already the government has claimed that it would implement this promise in the next two months and has been doing all sort of exercises. Nevertheless one should wonder why RBI is making such statements time and again sending wrong messages which is inviting opposition parties to criticise the government.

In the other Telugu speaking state i.e, Telangana, RBI gave approval for farm loan waiver in 100 mandals from Adilabad Medak and Ranga Reddy districts.
