The Sivaramakrishnan committee which is appointed for the selection of new capital of Andhra Pradesh landed in Hyderabad today and will be meeting AP CM Chandrababu Naidu in the evening hours. This is Sivaramakrishnan committee's second visit to the state and they are likely to take the opinion of Chandrababu who is in favor of establishing capital between Vijayawada and Guntur. TDP sources say that Chandrababu will give certain inputs to the expert's committee and they would be in favor of the above mentioned cities.
From the day, Chandrababu took oath as chief ministers, he has been giving hints to his partymen that capital city will be established between Vijayawada and Guntur. Also the Krishna and Guntur districts leaders have met Chandrababu last week and have requested him to form capital in this region.
A proposal to merge Vijayawada, Mangalagiri, Tenali, Gannavaram, and Guntur is in thoughts of Chandrababu which eventually forms a bigger city than Hyderabad. Chandrababu hinting of decentralized development, wants to secure 10 cities from the AP state out of the 100 smart cities that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised for the country.
Apparently Chandrababu wants to a capital city not just for administration and political purpose but with all kinds of facilities including social, education, entertainment and shopping. The KC Sivaramakrishnan committee will submit its report to the state government by August end in which it will give only recommendations but it is the decision of State government to make a choice of capital.
