Infosys co-founder and Congress candidate from Bangalore South, Nandan Nilekani has declared that he and his wife Rohini assets are worth Rs 7,700 crore in the affidavit who filed his nomination yesterday.
Nilekani's media team released a press note which stated that almost 80 percent of Nilekani's wealth remains in Infosys shares and owns 1.45 per cent while Mrs Rohini has 1.3 per cent of Infosys. Nilekani also said in the note that he started Infosys with Rs 10,000 and proud of the fact that his wealth is completely transparent.
“I haven't made any of my money illegally, or hid it in investments outside the country. Nothing is hidden in someone else's bank account. It is all completely transparent, and tax-paid. Since 1999, both are said to have donated almost Rs. 400 crore of their wealth to various causes and charities,” added Nilekani.
His opponent and BJP candidate Ananth Kumar also declared his assets at Rs 51.12 lakh while Mrs Tejaswani Ananth Kumar owns assets worth of Rs. 3.86 crore making a grand total of Rs. 4.4 crore. Mr. Kumar is five time BJP MP and this time a tough competition is expected.
