Sachin and CNR Rao to be awarded Bharat Ratna

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and eminent scientist Prof C N R Rao will be honored with the country's highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna by President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi today. The event will be held in Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapathi Bhavan and Sachin will be the first sportsperson to receive the Bharat Ratna.

Sachin and CNR Rao were awarded Bharat Ratna on November 16th 2013 by the government of India. Prof CNR Rao is a chemistry scientist and has published over 1400 research papers and 45 books on it. He is the third scientist after C V Raman and former President A P J Abdul Kalam to be conferred with the Bharat Ratna. Sachin has been rewarded for his outstanding career in cricket which spanned for over 24 years. There is nothing that Sachin achieved in cricket and while playing his last Test match government announced him Bharat Ratna.
