Congress appoints AP Screening Committee for LS elections

Congress High Command has appointed high level screening committees to select credible Lok Sabha candidates to contest for the party in 2014 general elections. Congress party senior most leader Vayalar Ravi will head the AP screening committee and CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC Chief Botsa also got place in this committee.

In an interesting move, Congress appointed only a single committee despite giving green signal for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. And also Congress showed faith in CM Kiran who has been defying the party's stand on Telangana.

After AICC meet on January 17th, these committees will starting working on eligible candidates and will select three candidates from each constituency and ultimately Sonia Gandhi will take a decision upon the final candidate who will be contesting on behalf of Congress party. Its Vice President Rahul Gandhi wants to announce at least 200 members list by the end of January month and so the ground work has already began said the sources.
