Lehar cyclone travelling towards the coast is only 60 km away from Machilipatnam. The velocity of the wind is expected to be 50 to 70 km per hour in the next 12 hours when landfall of the cyclone happens.
Weather report says that in the next 24 hours heavy rains will lash coastal Andhra and Telangana regions. Krishna district is already drenched in the rain and heavy loss of paddy is estimated in the east delta area.
NDRF is ready to jump into Rescue operations
Sea is very rough at Machilipatnam and Bapatla. Guntur District is under heavy rains. District Collector of Guntur Suresh Kumar is at the village Adavipallepalem near Bapatla where fishermen were evacuated and taken to the rescue camps arranged in the nearby school building.
Meals arrangement made at Machilipatnam rescue camp has fallen short where the cyclone victims are waiting for the food drenching in the rain.
